Court’s Side

This week in the Big 12 has been very interesting. Since the season has started a KU grad I know told me that K-State would beat KU in Bramlage. I laughed at that at the time and especially when the season progressed. The KU vs. K-State game would have affected the league a lot more if Iowa State would have beat Baylor this week. But since that didn’t happen I would say looking back it was just a mediocre week in the Big 12.

As the Big 12 tournament draws closer KU still has one game lead over West Virginia, Iowa State and Oklahoma. KU’s toughest game is against Oklahoma in Norman. Even though KU lost to West Virginia this year they play them in Allen Field House and haven’t lost a game there all year.

West Virginia has three tough games before the tournament. If they come out playing well they should beat Oklahoma State in Morgantown. But I do not see them beating Baylor in Waco and KU in Lawrence.

Iowa State also has the possibility of losing the next two out of three. If K-State plays like they did on Monday, then they should beat Iowa State in Manhattan. Then Iowa State plays Oklahoma in Ames, which is a better location for them to win in. Their last game is at TCU which should be a win, but you can never underestimate the Horned Frogs.

If Oklahoma beats TCU and Iowa State they will be hot and they will love being able to play Ku at home. Their fans will be loud and crazy with the possibility of winning a Big 12 Championship.

Looking at all of the teams and how they are playing right now I think KU will win the Big 12 but Baylor will win the tournament in Kansas City. This season has gone by quick. I can’t believe there are only three games left in the regular season.

My predictions for the weekend are :

TCU vs. Oklahoma- Oklahoma

West Virginia vs. Baylor- Baylor

Iowa State vs. Kansas State- Kansas State

Oklahoma State vs. Texas Tech- Texas Tech

Texas vs. KU- KU
